Embroidery FAQs

How can I get a quote for my custom embroidery or patches?

Fill out the "Get A Quote" form and we'll get back to you within 2 business days!

What is a Digitizing Fee?

A Digitizing Fee is the one-time cost to translate new artwork into the pattern used for sewing. All Digitized designs remain on file for future use with no fee applied. Larger quantity orders may qualify for discounted or waived Digitizing Fees.

Digitizing Fee does not apply to monogramming or personalizing.

What are the design limitations for embroidery?

The general rule is that you do not want any of the elements to be thinner than the diameter of the thread. But otherwise, most things are able to be interpreted through embroidery.

Embroidered text must be a minimum of 1/4 inch tall for legibility.

How many colors can I use in a patch?

Your design can include up to 7 colors without additional charges.

Can I get a mockup of the design before everything is embroidered?

Yes, we provide digital and print-to-scale mockups for all orders at no extra cost.

What is the largest patch you can make?

The largest we can make is 17" by 11".

I have a rough idea of what I want. Can you design my patch for me?

At this time we are offering only embroidery services and cannot assist with the design of patches or custom work. However, we are happy to share a short list of local Atlanta designers we can recommend to create your design.

Can you embroider my backpack?

Yes! We can embroider all of those and more, including shirts, aprons, bags, baby items, gifts, leashes, collars, sashes, robes, uniforms, towels, blankets, etc.

Can we meet to talk about my embroidery needs?

We are available via email and phone and will always respond to inquiries within two business days. While the small size of our team means we are not always available for in-person appointments, it also means we can offer excellent flexibility and prompt communication with our clients.

What type of backing do you use for patches?

We use a low melt iron-on backing unless requested otherwise. We can also add velcro.

For costuming purposes, we leave off adhesive backing to protect the garments (sew-on patches).

My artwork has been digitized on the internet. Can you use that?

For quality control, we require all digitizing be done in-house and will not accept pre-digitized files, unless otherwise approved in advance. Digitizing rates vary by artwork. The standard logo fee is $50.

Can I supply the items I want to get embroidered?

You are welcome to provide any apparel of your choice. We also have a list of prefered vendors we’d love to share who can offer high-quality products.

Tulipcake is not responsible for for any damages to items not purchased from our qualified vendors.

Do you offer anything other than standard embroidery?

Yes! We can fulfill requests for woven, printed, reflective, metallic, etc embellishments.

If we are unable to meet your needs, we will gladly refer you to another business/artist who can.

Printing FAQs

What is the difference between screen printing and digital printing?

Digital printing (DTG) is sort of like a large computer printer only instead of printing on paper, we print on shirts. Digital printing allows for low minimums (as little as one piece!) and quick turnaround times. DTG printing is best for full color logos or images. On the other hand, screen printing has a minimum of 24 pieces, has slightly longer turnaround times (10-14 business days) and is best for single color logos or simple designs. Have more questions? Contact us to see what's right for your project.

What shirts are best for printing?

DTG works best with 100% ringspun cotton tee shirts, which you are welcome to provide or order through our website. Blended fabric shirt (polyester, tri-blend, etc) are best screen-printed. The minimum for screen-printing is 24 pieces.

Can you print on anything?

It depends. For digital printing (DTG) it's best to use items that are at least 80% cotton. Contact us to see what is best for your project.

What is the minimum for printing?

DTG - No minimums!

Screen printing - 24 pieces

How much does it cost to get one shirt printed?

Pricing for both digital printing and screen printing is based on the type of shirt, quantity of shirts, method of printing, and size of the print.

Fill out our quote form to get an accurate quote or head to our custom store to select a shirt, upload your artwork, and submit an order.

Can I bring you my own shirts?

Yes! We can print or embroider on whatever item you want to decorate. Contact us first to get a quote and schedule a time to drop off your garments.
